Smart School's Timetable module supports multi-version drafts, customizable class schedule slots, day-wise planning, and conflict prevention.

Accessing Timetable

From the main menu, click **Timetable** to open the Timetable Management hub.

1. Timetable Version Control

Administrators can draft and maintain multiple schedule versions simultaneously (e.g. Summer Schedule, Winter Schedule, or Draft-v2):

  • Create & Activate: Create new drafts. Only one version can be marked as **Active** at a time. The active version is what teachers see on their mobile apps.
  • Duplicate: Copy an entire timetable version (including all period slots and teacher assignments) to test changes without affecting the live version.
  • Delete: Delete draft versions. Note that you cannot delete the live/active version.

2. The Dynamic Setup Wizard

To configure a timetable's skeleton, click **Setup Wizard** next to the version name.

  1. Schedule Type: Choose **Fixed** (the same period schedule runs every day of the week) or **Day-wise** (each workday has a completely unique slot mapping).
  2. Adding Slots: Specify the slot name (e.g. "Period 1", "Recess", "Morning Assembly"), select start/end times, and check the **Heading** box if it is a break.
  3. Heading Slots: Marking a slot as a Heading (like Lunch or Assembly) designates it as a break. These slots block teacher/subject inputs in the grid.

3. Grid Editor and Conflict Checks

The Timetable Editor is an interactive grid showing classes on the vertical axis and slots on the horizontal axis. As you assign teachers and subjects, the system runs two real-time conflict checks:

Teacher Conflict

Triggers a warning if you assign a teacher to a slot when they are already scheduled to teach another class at that same time and day.

Subject Conflict

Triggers a warning if a specific subject is assigned to the same class more than once on the same day.

Force Assign: In both cases, the editor prompts with a confirmation box. Select "Force Assign" to override the warning (useful for combined assembly or physical education periods).

4. Print Reports

Export completed schedules to printable PDF documents or view the **Master Report** to see the schedule for all classes on a single sheet.
