During a new academic session, schools often need to enter hundreds of student records. Typing each student manually takes hours and increases the chance of mistakes. This guide explains how to upload student data in one step using an Excel template or UDISE export file.
Step 1: Access the Import Tool
To start the bulk import process, log in to your staff dashboard:
- Navigate to the main Dashboard.
- Click on the Add Student block (Green Icon).
- Look for the Red Icon with Green text labeled Import via Excel and click on it.
There are two methods to import student data. One is for Indian schools with UDISE+ and the other is for schools/institutes/madrasas/coaching centers in India or outside India:
If your school uses UDISE+, you can directly import data without typing anything manually.
- Login to your UDISE+ Student Module.
- Navigate to "All Students" and find the option to Download All Student Data in Excel format.
- The file will be saved to your Downloads folder.
Important: Admission Numbers
UDISE data often lacks Admission Numbers. If uploaded as is, the system will auto-generate Temporary IDs.
Recommendation: Open the UDISE Excel file, add a column named Admission No, and fill in the correct numbers before uploading.
To Upload: Click "Choose File" → Select the UDISE Excel file → Click Upload.
For coaching centers, institutes, or schools outside India, use our standard Excel template.
1. Download the Template

2. Fill Data Correctly
Open the downloaded file and copy-paste your student data into the relevant columns. Save the file to your desktop.
- Required Columns: Name, Father Name, Class, Roll No.
- Format: Must be
.xlsxor.xls. - Section: Optional (Defaults to "Default Section" if left empty).
3. Upload
Click "Choose File" → Select your saved file → Click Upload.
Step 3: Verification & Error Handling
After clicking upload, the system will process the file.
- Success: If successful, all students will immediately appear in the Admission Section. Please navigate there to verify the data.
- Errors: If there are issues (e.g., duplicate Roll Nos), the system will show an error message. Fix the specific rows in your Excel sheet and retry the upload.
Adding only one student?
If you need to admit a single student instead of importing a full list, follow the manual admission process.
